Trip comments - The trip was a Narragansett chapter hosted hike with Ed Poyer as the leader and Jim Swanberg co-leader on Saturday, March 25 last weekend. There were 6 on the trip. The goal was to summit Mt.Jefferson via the Jewell Trail and Gulfside trail. Due to several actors (time, weather and one member getting tired) he had to turn around just prior to the col near the base of the mountain. Used snowshoes the whole way. Broke trail pretty much the whole way (6-8 inched of new snow- with drifts above treelike). Started at 8:15 AM and got back to parking lot around 3:30 PM. Temps on the ridge were in mid 20's with light to moderate winds at times. We had clouds below us and above us which made for interesting views.
