Everyone, and especially the kids, at that time knew Sam Knox the naturalist.
Sam's wife was Tillie and his son called Buckwheat.
Tillie was a nurse and was the camp nurse during the family camps.
Sam was a science teacher, I think at one of the East
Lansing Junior High Schools. Sam seemed to know everything
about nature and had the front top of his boots cut of so his feet could breath.
This was before sandals became so popular.
