Jan heading down notch by tarns which lead to the switchbacks high on the spur in the center of the photo. Switchbacks go up the loose scree to right of the spur. This is the route that we could not find in the 1981 trip, It is not obvious now and was even less 15 years ago. 15 years shows wear and tear on the mountains in this popular area. The Lamarck Col is classified as a secondary route into Sierras but has become very popular.
