Reached the middle of the col about 6:00 pm and set up camp in the center boulders where many others had. The other couple had thought of crossing over but had never been this route before. I convinced them to wait until tomorrow as camp sites were along ways down in the next valley. Water is available at the small lake. Our pace this time is about half of what I made on my previous hikes. Lack of training and age takes its toll. The temperature dropped to about 44 deg by 9:00 pm The moon was slow to come over the south ridge. Supper and clean up and to bed about 10:15 pm. Calm except for slight breeze occasionally. Altitude gain today was 2350 ft. No wonder we are all beat.
