Directions: From the North/East: Take Route 4 South to Tower Hill Rd/Rte 1. Continue on Rte 1 South until you see signs for Matunuck Beach Rd. Take next left onto Rte 1 North. Turn right on Matunuck Beach Rd. The SKLT Barn is immediately on right.
From South/West: Take Rte 1 North. Turn right on Matunuck Beach Rd. The SKLT Barn is immediately on right.

Description

Spring Flower Walk

Contact Leader Patty D’Ambra (949-3374) for time and location.

Explore the magnificent Land Trust property with Leader Patty D’Ambra. Search for favorite and new species on your ramble through the meadows, fields and woodlands. As you stroll, Patty may answer your deepest and most profound questions. Between flowers she often provides her take on scandals at the State House.

Local Hike

Contact Leader Karen Stein (782-6589) for location.

Trustom Wildlife Refuge Hike. Start 1:30pm. An enjoyable 3 mile refuge walk that overlooks a coastal pond. Nearby additional beach walk may be available and return in time for Land Trust Barn get together.

Family walk/stroll

Contact Leader Debbie Mitchell (743-4192) for time and location. CL Mark Dennan.

Ninigret Park-Matunuck Beach area 2:30pm - 3:30pm. Children of all ages welcome, easy access to/from car and bathrooms. Since this is a family walk/stroll, we’ll be very flexible about itinerary.

Hawk Presentation

Kim Calcagno
4:00pm SKLT Barn

Kim Calcagno from Audubon will talk about the two clever birds. Hawks and Owls. Discover their fascinating techniques for hunting. Hawks, notable for their smooth circling glides and spectacular dives are commonly seen around RI forests and meadows. Kim will bring a hawk with her and the presentation is open to all members.

Flatwater Paddling Kayaking

Contact Leader Linda Pease (351-2234) for time and location.

Ninigret Pond: Enjoy a quiet paddle around the pond. Possible walk into Ninigret Wildlife Refuge or over the barrier beach to East Beach. Recreational or sea kayaks welcome. Wet suits recommended.

Sea Kayaking

Point Judith Pond: Kayak from the upper end of Pond to the lower end and back. Short portage possible. A wet or dry suit is required. Launch at 10 am. Directions: Route 1 North or South take the Salt Pond Road – S. County Hospital exit, park across from J.G. Geoffs' Pub.

Bike Ride I

Easy Rider Ninigret-Matunuck: 18 mile, easy ride, including stops at pre-colonial Fort Ninigret, scenic and historic Ninigret Park and a beach walk. Helmets required.

Bike Ride II

Contact Leader Marcie Madsen (364-6538) for time and location. CL Tom Eagan

Intermediate Ride: 28 mile bike ride, easy-intermediate pace (not too fast not too slow). Beaches, rolling country roads and the carefree beauty of South County. Helmets required.
