After leaving Port Aux Basque all three cars headed north through picturesque country that appeared quite rocky in areas. It can be understood why the locals call the Island the “Rock”. Once in Gros Morne National Park we camped at the Lomond Campground which is on a attractive hillside overlooking the end of Bonne Bay. It rained the evening we arrived and the cook house proved excellent. With a wood stove and running hot and cold water. I have never experienced hot water in a picnic shelter before. These Canadians are so modern.. Photo 10crop9.jpg above shows Wayne in his full Eskimo paddling outfit. The rest of the 4 days at the camp were quite beautiful. The photos above shows the morning fog which would lift to reveal a clear blue sky. The weather after the first rainy evening was perfect for the rest of the trip. It only rained again once we got back to North Sydney. Meanwhile the weather in New England was hot, steamy and rainy..
