Each loop uses three times the rope as the length of the loop. Smaller loops or chains makes the handling of the tow rope easier. In practice this tow rope was too short for my kayak. 9 feet did not put the kayak back far enough so I use a rope that ends up about 12 feet. What ever length you want, the daisy chained version will be 1/3 that.
