The resulting slot which goes through the loom. Note that the paddle is clamped stationary and the saw blade is cranked up into the paddle to form the slot. It took in this case, three longitudinal and three vertical cuts, or a total of nine realignments of the paddle. To the right is the separate piece of wood to be used as the spline.
