Narragansett Chapter to participate in
Tick Control Awareness Day
Our chapter will be participating in the third annual Tick Control Awareness Day at URI on Saturday, June 7 from 9 am to 3 pm. The event is sponsored by Rhode Island's Center for Vector-Borne Disease. This "Spring into Summer Wellness Festival," will include multiple activities in a fair-like environment. Attendees will participate in fun events while simultaneously learning from experts about the best tick prevention practices, and products. This event is free and open to the public.
I have previously attended one of their events and walked away much less confidence in my practice (at the time) of spraying my clothes with deet, and not worrying about ticks too much, if it was cold. The RI Center for Vector-Borne Disease has great information about Permethrin and anything tick-related at their web site: www.TickEncounter.org.
