Trip Leaders Talk Card

Leaders, how good are you at introducing your trip or event to the participants? Do you always remember all the little things? The AMC has produced and mailed a handy card called a "Talk Card" to all leaders. The card is printed on waterproof tough plastic. Trip leaders, please carry the card on you so that is is handy at the start of your trips. It is not expected that you read the card to the participants, but it is a reminder for you to pick the important and relevant items to mention to the participants. If any leaders have not received their card, contact out Chapter Chair Bob Tessitore. The major topics are:
  • Arrival and Signing the Waiver
  • Introductions (Gather the Group Together)
  • Personal Responsibility
  • Ground Rules and Expectations for Group Trips
View the text of the card here: www.outdoors.org/volunteers/forms/upload/Trip-Talk-Card-with-formatting-OCT-2015-2.pdf

Leader Profiles, where are you?

Update: Two more of our volunteer leaders have submitted profiles on our Profile page. How about more leaders letting membership know who you are?

Our leaders and committee members are volunteers who enjoy donating their time and expertise for the benefit of the AMC, so that all members can enjoy the outdoor opportunities we offer. The Narragansett Chapter has a trip leader and committee member profile page to credit and introduce our leaders and committee members to the membership.

If you are a trip leader, a committee member, serve in some other capacity for the club, or served as an active past leader, and have not submitted a profile, we encourage you to share a profile with the chapter. Submitting information for the profile page is strictly voluntary, but in the spirit of the AMC, I hope most of you will contribute. How to contribute your profile here.

Leader Rewards Program.

A reminder that if you lead 6 or more trips this year, and qualify for the rewards program, you get a free membership in 2017.

The Narragansett Chapter has inaugurated a new program this year to encourage more members to become leaders, and for current leaders who only lead a few trips, to consider leading more trips and events. The Chapter wants to also reward current prolific leaders who continue to lead multiple trips or events for their contribution to our chapter and the AMC.

An AMC Narragansett chapter leader qualifies for free AMC renewal membership in the 2017 calendar year, paid to the AMC by the Narragansett chapter treasurer prior to the expiration date of the leader’s membership in 2017, based on the conditional provisions (ie. rules) of the Narragansett Chapter leader reward program.

This program will be in place for one year. If successful, the rewards program may be continued.
